Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool passes directly to the outside provider that operates it. That provider processes the request and supplies results. We do not retain or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email is kept as needed to prepare and send a response. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers receive basic technical information whenever a visitor loads a page:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They and analytics services help aggregate traffic, including popular pages and common exit points. A browser can block cookies, though doing so may change how some features behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Keeping the site up, running, and loading quickly
- Sending your search requests to the right partner service
- Figuring out which pages people find useful and which need work
- Tracking down and fixing technical issues
- Showing ads that may line up with your interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
This site does not keep, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal-record information. It publishes general directions to Lake County Sheriff, Oregon Circuit Court, OSP Criminal Justice Information Services, and the OSP Sex Offender Online Search. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party criminal records.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their own privacy terms, retention rules, and sharing practices apply to submitted data. We do not control those policies, so review the provider's terms before running a search.
Links to Other Websites
Throughout the site we link to sheriff's office pages, court portals, state agency sites, legal aid groups, and third-party search tools. Clicking any of those links takes you off our site. At that point, their privacy policy governs your visit. Read it before sharing any personal details.
Certain advertising partners may track your activity across sites to show targeted ads. That tracking runs on their systems, not ours.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Some information may end up with:
- Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
- Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security measures protect collected data, but no internet system is perfectly secure. We cannot guarantee that unauthorized access will never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If such data is identified, it will be deleted.
Your Data Rights
Rights may vary by residence. Oregon's Unlawful Trade Practices Act, ORS 646.605 through 646.656, and the Oregon Consumer Privacy Act, ORS 646A.570 through 646A.589, may provide applicable protections. Subject to lawful limits, you can:
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us fix information that is wrong
- Request that we erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
